Norfolk, VA - Lyle Joyner will captain the 2009 Virginia
Challenge Cup team when the 3rd Annual matches
against Louisiana are held in Hilton Head, South Carolina
on October 21-22, 2008.
"I just want to say it was an honor to bring home the CUP
in 2008, and Team Virginia looks forward to the 3rd
annual Challenge Cup".
The 29-year-old Joyner, will attempt to lead Team Virginia
to Back-to-Back Challenge Cup Victories, after there 08'
Victory, 32-29 over Louisiana.
Joyner, was the one that extended the idea of the
Challenge Cup to Louisiana Tour Director - Eric Simmons. Both directors had a wonderful time last year
and look forward to another hard battle once again. Even though in 2008, the 36-hole format was played
across two days, this year the event adds another format in Alternate Shot. Which will give the Challenge 36
Holes on Wednesday.
"Lyle Joyner’s passion for the game, his understanding of match-play and what this event means to both the
Virginia and Louisiana tours is why he enjoys this so much. “It’s about the time players spend with one
another, getting to know another golfer from another tour, and coming together as a team” said Joyner.
Joyner, has the upmost respect for fellow Captain Eric Simmons, they both talk once a week or so. They
have some of the same interests and that makes for a great rivalry and friendship.
